Solayr is often asked to look at projects other companies may think impossible.
For example, take the sportscotland project....
A moving story...
When Solayr built the Priory House Conservatory in 1998, the company was justifiably proud of its efforts. At 17m x 8.5m, not only was it the largest Conservatory of its type on the west coast of Scotland, but it was absolutely stunning.
It won Solayr the 1998 UK Conservatory of the Year competition, the company's first national award.
Then in 2007 Solayr received a telephone call from John Kent, Principal of sportscotland in Largs.
The conversation went along the lines of 'The Priory House Hotel is closed. The Conservatory is going to be demolished in 10 days time. Can you dismantle it, transport it two miles up the road and store it for rebuilding on a new site?'
Solayr said 'Yes'.
A vast amount of skill and knowledge is needed to build Conservatories. Even more so to build large-span commercial Conservatories. Dismantling one for reuse on a different site is another story all together.
Even after ten years worth of harsh weather conditions on the west coast of Scotland the conservatory was in very good condition. Solayr was even able to salvage the original hardwood floor.
By early 2008, all relevant Local Authority approvals were in place. Now the real fun began.
... with a very tight deadline as someone special was coming to officially open the new Conservatory.....
Work progressed very well and, down to the quality of the original product and of Solayr's installation techniques, very few new components were required.
This was not a straight-forward project, but one Solayr is very proud to have been involved with. The sportscotland Conservatory is as stunning, if not more so, than the original.
And it won Solayr the 2008 UK Conservatory of the Year Competition, a tenth national award.
... even the royal visitor seemed impressed!
